With more than 20 years in the music industry, Cookie Marenco’s creative and technical skills have touched almost every aspect of the music and audio business. She is widely known for the quality of her audio engineering skills and for drawing out passionate performances from the artists she produces. Marenco is an advocate of using analog tape for recording while pioneering digital delivery to consumers using DSD digital audio.

Blue Coast Records founder and producer/engineer Cookie Marenco is a five-time Grammy nominee, recorded more than 400 music albums and is a former A&R representative for Windham Hill Records where she produced Winter Solstice 2 for which she received a gold record . Currently, she is involved in the advancement of high resolution audio through the use of DSD (Direct Stream Digital) with a growing fanbase of more than 11,300 members.
In 1997 Marenco became the firs taudio engineer to record a live concert to the internet and distributed worldwide through Liquid Audio. She is co-creator of E.S.E. (Extended Sound Environment), a proprietary recording technique for stereo and surround sound with Jean Claude Reynaud.
To meet the demand of high resolution audio delivery to music lovers Marenco created Downloads NOW! In 2010 Downloads NOW! became the first digital music aggregator and distributor to sell DSD audio Direct to Fans. The worldwide attention became a catalyst for DSD consumer products and content delivery of DSD audio.
With increased demands for new DSD information, Marenco launched DSD-Guide.com as a resource in Feb 2012. She partners with dozens of manufacturers developing DSD products, such as Sony, Korg, Super Audio Center, Playback Designs, JRivers, Merging Technologies, KimberKables, MIT Cable, Millennia Media, Light Harmonics and many others to advance DSD for home and professional use.
OTR Studios, founded by Marenco over two decades ago is based in the San Francisco Bay area, and has earned a worldwide reputation for the highest quality analog and digital recording, mastering and internet audio while hosting international students in a mentoring program.
Marenco is currently used in advertisements for Sony AR1 high end speakers, writes for Positive Feedback, EQ, Keyboard, Pstracks and was an Artist in Residence for IndabaMusic. She is a technology beta tester, an in-demand expert panelist at ASARP, CES, AES, NARM, RMAF and NARAS, and a University lecturer. In March 2012, Marenco became a member of the Music Management Advisory Board for the University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music.
Marenco continues her work as an independent producer and releases multiple titles for Blue Coast Records each year. Though no longer a practicing musician, Marenco was an accomplished pianist, oboist and studied world music on instruments such as the sitar during her years as a music major in college.
